I am currently a rising senior. The computers that I have at home are getting a bit dated and my parents are going to buy new ones. Should I look for one to take to college yet to get used to it for a year, or should I wait until graduation? If now, what kind of computer should I get? I want to go into engineering, so I know I need a somewhat powerful computer. I think Macs are out of the question (sorry Mac people). The budget is $1,000. I will be checking this all year and next summer, so keep posting.

Hubbie is an engineer (ee) and uses Macs. You’ll be using your computer A LOT as a senior to do your common app and other applications. Are you going to trust your old computer to fill out your online applications???
Yes, they’re not too bad, just a bit old. I can’t decide whether to buy something now and get used to it for a year, or to wait and get something new and maybe more powerful than the ones being made currently.
