Should I call in to ask if they received my Mid-Term Report and Rec's

My GC and teachers preferred to do paper recommendations. As a result, everything besides my online personal application is mailed to them. I read on the website somewhere that starting Nov. 10th, one could check the Status of their “mailed in reports”? Am I misinformed? I don’t see my status anywhere… should I just call and ask them? Would it be too rude? I’m afraid my paperwork might get lost in the mail… etc… Will the admissions departments contact me if there are any missing parts?

Thanks,
Worried

Go to http:// admissions . columbia . edu/ to check the status of your documents.

My mailed stuff hasn’t been processed yet either…

yeah, i tracked my application and found out that everything is sent besides one of my recs :(

Same with me…I’m getting paranoid…

do not call in. please let the material get collected.

if anything, send an email. after working the phones for the office as a ugrad, it is really annoying to have hundreds of calls when the information is pretty much updated in real-time on the admissions tracker. if you sent it in and it isn’t on there, it is probably being sorted.

you might be paranoid, well you could’ve sent your material with a delivery confirmation - or had your recommenders submit things online. to make you feel better. it isn’t an excuse to call in and have the awkward conversation in which no one can help you that much.

if it hits the end of the month and you haven’t heard anything - then feel free to email for information, but even then you really shouldn’t call. it isn’t urgent, and talking to someone on the phone v. letting someone respond via email his a huge difference. via email allows them to look into your question further.
