So I took 8 APs, one of which was a 4 (AP English Language), and 4 SAT IIs (800 math2c, 800 chem, 770 bio, and 750 physics). Would it be advisable to withhold any of these scores? Is quality>quantity? I’m planning to apply to apply to the ivies if that means anything. Any advice is much appreciated.

AP scores are not required for admissiom. You can self-report them on app or in essay and report any you want. If you have seven 5s and one 4, I would likely self-report all of them. I would also likely send all the SAT IIs because they are all high although most colleges that require IIs will then use only highest two for admission. Moreover, some colleges require you to send all SAT and SAT II scores. Your thinking for providing these scores should not be don’t send unless perfect but instead they are all high from the viewpoint of any college.

I think you should send them all , they look great . 7 5’s and 4 SAT 2 > 750 , this would look very impressive.

They’re all great, send them all.

With seven 5s, one 4 is not going to hurt you. It’s debatable, but I think not reporting a score after you’ve taken the class would cause more doubt than a single 4.

Well, I don’t know. It seems to me that the overall picture looks better without the physics score than with it. But just slightly. It really shouldn’t matter. If any of the schools want to see physics specifically, then of course report.

The APs are all fine (and have nothing to do with score choice, anyway).

Thanks for all the replies everyone! I’ve decided to only withhold physics.

You mentioned ivies. Understand that the following ivies require you to send all scores including SAT IIs and thus including the physics: Yale, Columbia, Cornell, UPenn.

Yes, everybody should carefully check what each college requires, and whether it allows score choice–College Board has a list, but it probably makes sense to look at each college’s website as well.

One more thing on this: in deciding whether to keep or suppress at Subject Test score, it can be instructive to look at the percentiles: <a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools;

OP’s 750 in Physics is at the 80th percentile. That’s probably a test only taken by self-selected students, but still, the percentiles on the other scores are better.
