Hi all,
I’m unfamiliar with college grading so I wanted to seek some guidance.
I’m in a large (500+ person) class that is curved. I study daily, do practice questions; yet, my nerves and being in such a large class get to me. I understand the material, but I keep making mistakes on simple multiple choice.
I recently realized that this course isn’t even required for my major. I’m afraid if I stay in (I’m halfway through) I’ll get less than a 3.0, jeopardizing my chances of even transferring out to a smaller school for my desired major. I don’t even know if a W will jeopardize my ability to get admittance to the program I want elsewhere. I recently scored a 55 on a midterm that had a class average of 68. It’s weighted at 30% for two midterms. I thought the midterm was fairly easy, but I made small errors. I have also been doing poorly on pop quizzes, which also have higher class averages than what I’m getting (10%). As for the rest of the assignments, I don’t have 100% of the points, I’m nearing 98%.
If I were to somehow get over my nerves and pull through, would it still be possible to get a 3.2+? Should I just drop it?
