Should I drop an AP and do PE instead?

I am going to senior year, and our school requires 1.5 semesters of PE. I can get 1 waived, but the remaining .5 is REQUIRED.

I was going to do online PE, but now I am not sure if it’s worth it (contrary to popular belief, online PE is not actually “online”). Right now, I have 5 APs and orchestra. I don’t think 5 APs will be a problem (I took 4 last year), but I am wondering if it makes a difference to colleges anyway? I am currently signed up for: AP lit, calc bc, government, econ, and CS.

Would it be better for me to just take a regular PE course in place of AP econ? Or should I do 5 AP AND online PE?

Take real live in-person PE. The physical activity every day will give you a break from your academic subjects.

Online PE is generally regimented in some way, it’s not like just typing. Examples might be going to the gym 3x per week and recording what you did for how long.

If you are not planning on majoring in business or economics, I would drop the AP econ, mainly because taking 5 APs is pretty tough, especially when exam time comes around.

Honestly, some people collect AP classes like charms on a bracelet. Focus on those in your proposed major(s), and don’t hurt yourself by taking on too much stuff.

You need to fulfill the HS graduation requirement first, otherwise, you may get rescinded from admitted colleges. In our school district, there is summer class for PE to fulfill the HS graduation requirement. My D took it after freshman year to get things out of the way.

Econ is a required course at my son’s school. If you don’t need the Econ class, then take PE. You can take Econ in college if you have an interest.
