Should i drop this class?

ok so im going to be a freshman and majoring in aerospace engineering, and i currently have 16 hrs which is a lil over average for freshman, i registered for intro to astronomy and i was wondering since i dont exactly need the class, should i drop. OK here’s the few reasons why…
if i drop it i would only have one class mon and fri, which sounds extremely appealing to me
also if i dropped it i would only be taking 13 hrs, which seems a bit more manageable than 16.
but i really like astronomy and thought it’d be a fun class to take so i’m really sure, a lil help? maybe someone whose taken the class can help me out? any help is appreciated.

If you don’t need it, then why would you expend your money/financial aid on it? =b If you enjoy the subject so much, why don’t you do a bit of recreational reading? lol. Seriously, if it’s not needed for your degree requirement, and you are already using all your electives towards your major/a minor/, then I would suggest not doing it. But that is just me. :)

Drop it. You can always take it in the future, when you have a really lax semester and need something to do if you think you’ll be bored a lot.

16 hours in not that bad. You will take many classes because you have to but only a few (or possible none) because you want to. If this works into your schedule and you are truly interested in it, then keep it. This is of course only if this course in no way hinders your ability to graduate on time.

On the other hand, School of Engineering says that you have to take a minimum of 14 hours without an approved application that exempts you. 12 of 14 hours must contribute to the degree.

Really? I’m in engineering and I only have 13 hours…I’m in a Fig and I talked to my advisors and everything. Do you think I’m ok?

engineering has to take 14+ hours. the exception is that if you are an incoming freshman. then you are allowed to take 12+ hours.

ok cool…i’m taking 13…I want to take more but I don’t know what else to take. I have EE 302, 306, World philosphy, and FIG class…

Any suggestions? I already have credit for English, history, Gov 1, and i’m taking gov 2 this summer.

I think you also have to take 3 hours of a social science elective.

oh yeah. I got Macro Econ credit as well

Get your math out of the way. If you already have calculus credit, take diff eq.

First semester the minimum is 12 hours for engineering. You’re fine.
