Should I drop this course?

I’m currently taking an intro to public/community health at my school, I want to drop it. I’m currently taking 6 courses right now (intro bio, expository writing, spanish, community health, a movie course (only 1/2 credit), and orchestra (no credit but I can change to 1/2 credit)… I just feel this public health course is taking too much of my time with the readings and essay and I haven’t been able to spend as much time on my other courses… I also did fairly mediocore on the test (below class average). However, I’m applying to a 7 year dental program at my school and by dropping this course, I would probably have a below average courseload. However, I believe my gpa would be better because I’m not doing too well in this public health course. I also haven’t really enjoyed this course, mainly because it is not interesting and quite vague. What do you guys think?

edit: dropping my course right now would not have any effect on my transcript (up till nov 16)

Right now, you’re taking 6 classes but one of them is only worth 1/2 credit and another one is worth 0 credits. If you drop the community health class, will this put you under the minimum credits needed to be considered a full time student?

well I have 3.5 credits right now and my advisor said it would only be a problem if I have under 3 credits… I’m trying to get orchestra to be a 1/2 credit right now, so I would have 4 credits

My opinion–I’d keep the class. The work load will increase each semester so you might as tough it out and finish the class now before the more difficult classes start kicking in.

…or you could just write the paper.

I would only drop classes if you’re failing or it’s before the drop deadline. If you know you can do well in the class after the drop deadline, finish it because it’s better than a W on your transcript.
