Q: Any plan to take AP Latin, if offered?
Seriously thanks man, that means a lot.
Yes they are my legal guardians and they all look very affordable.
I would but its not offered.
Unless their policy has changed (doubtful) Emory does not consider 9th grade grades. They make a point of saying so in their admissions presentation.
You might look into the Johnson scholarship at Washington and Lee University. It is a full ride for all four years, plus a $10,000 stipend. 10% of each class are Johnson Scholars (so roughly 40 scholarships are awarded each year).
Penn state will not give aid oos. I think UVA is the only public uni that does that, and they do have a Foreign Affairs BA.
Would you consider me eding emory, bc or villanova. Only reason i did not have emory in my list before is that i thought it was too much of a reach.
I would ED2 Emory and EA to Stanford, UVA, Georgetown SFS and other strong programs (as well as safeties). With Emory excluding 9th grade gpa, your application quality shoots up dramatically.
Ok bet that sounds really good thank you so much for all your input man it truly means a lot.
Don’t neglect or rush your Emory essays though.
Oh and how could I forget, Vanderbilt is another great option. But maybe there’s a reason it’s not on your list?
Tbh I didnt think I had a shot.
With ED perhaps, but I wouldn’t replace Boston College or possibly Emory for Vanderbilt.
People are steering you towards very reachy schools. You definitely should have some, but ai think you really need to focus on target/safeties. Plus, the finances aren’t clear to me. CC posters always urge applicant families to run the Net Price Calculators at each school of interest to see what financial aid they are likely to be offered. This amount varies school by school. That way you can see what your family would be expected to pay, if anything. And thus you will have figured out if you will need merit aid. Anyway, that would be a first step.
And in the more likely category, what about American University?
Great school tbh. When i run the npc most of the schools are very affordable for my family.
Got it,thank you.
Stanford is REA so applying ED2 to Emory is only allowable if they are rejected early from Stanford. OP should check application policies very closely for any schools they’re applying to.
Just to be very clear, because this impacts financial aid…were your grandparents appointed by a court to be your legal guardians (and they did not adopt you)? If so, you would file FAFSA as an independent student and only your assets/income would be included, not your grandparents’. Is that what you entered in the NPCs?

plenty of state schools give some merit aid OOS. Certainly the new england ones all do. I am not saying that necessarily makes the affordable for all, but they do give merit OOS
If deferred out of REA by Stanford, OP could ED2 to Emory, or a different school.
