Should i email Prof. over break?

Okay i have just decided to transfer and finished the app. but i am on break now and need a recommendation letter from my college. I am going to ask my english prof. but should i wait until january when i come back to ask her in person or should i just email her now. Thanks. The admission is rolling and i want to guarantee oncampus housing.

You can email her whenever, but I wouldn’t expect an answer until January if I were you. Could she be totally on the ball and eager to write you back? Sure. But don’t get your hopes up too much.

Depends on how well you know the person or not. Face to face contact is more intimate and is great if she doesn’t know you well.

Just email them now. You don’t have anything to lose, really. If they don’t want to reply they’ll just let it sit in their inbox and respond in January. If I was a prof I’d prefer if someone emailed me sooner rather than later, anyway.

It doesn’t make sense to purposely waste nearly a month of time when for all you know she could be willing to send in the rec the day she gets the email.
