Should I encourage my D to read "The Perfect Score Project"?

I just read “The Perfect Score Project” by Debbie Stier. I really enjoyed the book and thought it offered some great insights into the SAT. Originally I was thinking that I would encourage my D to read the book as well but now that I’ve read it, I’m not so sure.

What I want her to get from the book:
That I am not the only test obsessed momma out there;-)
That repeated practice of actual SAT material is the way to go
Pick up some techniques that she might find useful (was going to ask her to highlight these as she read)
Realize that she already has a solid foundation based on the score form her first SAT sitting and that she can raise her PSAT by the few points needed (she just needs to increase her PSAT 5 points!)

What I’m afraid that she’ll get:
Stressed by all the different prep options/strategies
Convinced that she can’t raise her score since the author, with all the best help in the world lowered her score at times
Think teenage rebellion is normal/acceptable
Stressed out about potential poor testing environment/proctoring

Have your kids read this book? What did they think? Would you encourage your children to read this book?

I read the book when it came out and love it. I wish i had it a year ago to help prepare for this year (DS is a juniot and getting ready to take the SAT tomorrow for a 2nd time). I wouldn’t have her read the book for the reasons you state. I would pick and choose the things you would like for her to read, or write them down. I did purchase the Math book she highly recommends and I’ve sat with DS doing most of it to help him with the Math. It’s a wonderful book!! I wish we’d had it 5 months ago, I will be interested in seeing if his techniques raise his score. They certainly make sense and I’ve learned that most of the Math questions are just puzzles mainly.
