Hi so I am taking my SAT and ACT within the next month and I will have more on that soon, but I want to apply to schools like John Hopkins, Brown, Georgetown, and Vanderbilt. The things is I don’t even know if I have a shot. I had some medical problems my freshman and sophomore year so my GPA was horrendous so I got my GED (my GED scores were really high)and went onto college. I’m about to finish my second year of college with a 3.6 with most of my classes being honors. I will also be graduating this spring at the age of 18 with two maybe three associate degrees( biology, pre-medical, and maybe math). I did a lot of extracurricular things growing up like dance, theater, volunteering at foodbanks, and setting up school fundraisers. This summer I will also be doing research with a professor and we will be researching using honey to help heal MRSA. I also know I can get amazing and sincere recommendations from many professors. Also I tend to help the Dean of Math, Science, and Engineering with tours for new students so I think I can get an amazing recommendation letter from him. Also I am a math tutor for my college. I don’t know if that would make a difference. I think I will do pretty well on the SAT and ACT based on the practice tests but we will have to see. Any opinions? I just don’t even know if I should apply to these schools.
While it’s a highly regarded university, Georgetown doesn’t really seem to fit in with the other colleges you’d be applying to.
Whether you should apply or not, you definitely should.
The answer is always yes. If you’re interested in a school, apply. The worst that can happen is they say no, and it may be the one you least expect to say yes that ends up accepting you.
Why do you want to apply to those schools?
What state are you in?
