Should I even bother applying for Stern

I’m thinking about applying for Stern at the end of this year however I have not participated in a single EC activity/work experience opportunity that is related to business/finance (and so on), nor have I taken up any subjects related to commerce either. The main reason for this is due to the lack or opportunities where I live but I doubt the admission officers will really consider this.

You should still apply. If you state your interests in your supplement essay thoroughly and tell them you have a passion for business/finance it shouldn’t be a problem as long as you have EC activities, volunteer work, good test scores and good grades. I think you should also tell them you haven’t had opportunities to partake in ECs related to business/finance.

If you are really worried than maybe you could apply to a less competitive school within NYU like CAS and than transfer into stern.

BTW- I applied ED 1 for Fall 2014 and was accepted. I applied for Liberal Studies college.

I’m sorry iiimaniii, I have to disagree, it is almost impossible to transfer into Stern from CAS, and I’ve never known anyone to be successful in doing this. From what I’ve heard, they take maybe 2 internal transfers from CAS a year.

@collegeaustralia, whether or not you should apply is really up to you and whether or not you can afford to do so. If you can write a good supplement that works in your reasons for not having experience and make a convincing argument, then I would, because the worst thing that happens is you don’t get in. You’ll never know unless you apply, and if the application fee is not an issue, then go for it.
