I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this. Oh well…
I’ve heard good things about it and it seems like a great school, but do I even have a chance? I’m asking about just getting accepted, not financially or anything yet.
1340/1600 and 2000/2400 SAT
30 ACT (35 English, 27 science, 24 math, 32 writing)
GPA somewhere in the 3.75-3.9 range. Haven’t gotten back first quarter grades yet this year, but I did very well. I have taken 7 AP courses throughout high school (all that is offered at my school outside of math) I’m not huge on extracurriculars, but I am the VP of a service club and I participate in a Judicial Scholars program (no idea if that means anything) I play two sports but definitely won’t be playing in college. I’m in lots of clubs but I doubt most of them will do me any good. I don’t know about a major yet (nothing math related lol) Remember I’m just asking about being accepted, nothing financially yet.

Are you a resident of the state of Virginia? If so, you shouldn’t worry. If not, keep in mind that applying to public colleges in states that you do not have residency in is ALWAYS extremely competitive.

It’s competitive instate as well. Here’s the Common Data Sets from last year. I think you have a shot. 89% of accepted students fell within your GPA range. I know that 90% from my son’s school had over a 4.2 GPA last year (instate). It’s worth a try!

Admission to UVirginia for state residents is highly competitive because most applicants come from high caliber high schools with superior grades and high test scores. Admission for non-residents is even more brutal.

^ agree with LW
I have to wonder if this is a serious thread.
UVA, despite any numbers one can find, despite their reassuring words, is one highly competitive school for in-state freshman admissions. They may follow trends and look for a slight % increase in oos, for the increased revenue. But, this is one of the very few schools where, IMO, even for kids with top stats and great activities, even casual chancing is impossible.

Apply if you would always regret not trying. But first, get past the “heard good things” and “seems like a great school” thing. Do your research.

From what I have read UVA tries to balance the student population so that not ALL admits come from top schools in NOVA. If the OP comes from a less represented area it should help.

It’s not just NOVA kids. Virginia’s public schools generally are solid. Clearly you’ll find very bright kids from towns like Wise, Lynchburg, Virginia Beach or Richmond. It just so it happens that NOVA schools are excellent and the region is populous so many of their students end up at UVA.
