YES DEF. TAKE THE ACT- i took it COLD today- i did not take any practice tests and did literally nothing for it at all, and i thoguht it was MUCH MUCH easier tahn the SAT even with months of prep for the SAT- of course, I do not know what I got yet, but even so, I can tell you that i did find it to be much easier

Um, don't take this the wrong way, Chronic, but I'd respectfully suggest that your characterizing the 1.2 million students who take the ACT as "mid-western hicks" qualifies you as a first-class moron.

Your guidance counsellor may be able to tell you how your PLAN scores predict what your ACT score would be. Your SAT score is not in the top 1%. An ACT score of 32+ is in the top 1%. If you or your counsellor think you can get an ACT score of 32+, I think it is worthwhile to take the ACT. And the ACT is shorter - taking it is not as much torture at taking the SAT.

I think the common flaw in some of the posts here is that hicks are by no means confined solely to the midwest. Their forces are present in every state.

i did find the ACT easier though. It's much easier to take cold. I took it in February and accidently missed the SAT deadline by 5 min for MArch, and the school instruction between March and May greatly helped me.

I took the sat and got a 1770 (i totally freaked out...) but i had taken the act and had gotten a 31 the first time cold which is in the 2%. So yeah, you should try it.
