Should i even worry about it yet?

I’m a Freshman in high school as of 2 days ago, and since 1st grade i haven’t really been the type of person who gets good grades and actually tries in school. But since starting high school i felt this sudden rush of responsibility and i’ve decided to study really hard. My goal is to graduate with a 3.8 GPA so i can get into a decent college.
I have been a musician since the age of 6, I play the guitar, ukulele, drums, and i do vocals. I want to be an entertainer when i grow up, i write songs, and parodies, and i preform quite often with the performance based program I’m currently involved in; The Paul Green School Of Rock Music. I’m also interested in acting, I haven’t been in any plays yet but I am trying out for the fall play at my school, and I’ve been a extra in a few movies, and auditioned for various roles.
What I’m trying to get at here, is I’m looking for a college that suits me, something that can basically build my acting resum

Here are some schools with pop/urban music programs that may interest you:

Good for you for finding CC and for starting this process early! That shows great maturity and ambition! A heads up- most high school, guidance counselors, despite their very best efforts and intentions, are not usually very familiar with the requirements of performing arts based programs such as conservatories, or even theatre or music programs in general. Rather than feeling you must take Honors and AP classes, it may be wiser to take classes that you can do well in and enjoy, and that will also allow you to evoke the time to developing your performance resume. Your audition is what will matter most to many programs- they want to see a strong work ethic, but that can be represented in many ways. There are a lot of college programs that meet your needs- if your family can afford it, a college counselor with experience in the performing arts may be very beneficial. Keep reading CC and asking the good questions you’ve started asking. Do well in your classes but conservatory programs and many BFA programs will not care if you have AP credits. But, they will want to see commitment, talent, passion, and experience, and that you take your commitments seriously

lightingmom makes an excellent points and I agree re: guidance counselors and this field. Ours didn’t even advise my S to take a music theory elective, so he took 2 choir/chorus classes per year but he should have taken at least one music theory corse. So do your homework here, on the school websites etc. and keep your grades up. Even is audition is the most important there is academic money out there for college.

I think you should look everywhere and not limit your investigation to any program until you have decided it is not for you. I commend you on your resolve, keep this up and you will have a lot of options. And lightingmom is SPOT on!!!
