Many of my counselors say that colleges don’t care about your PE grades, but I’m assuming that they don’t care if it’s an A. Is it worth it to explain the reason why you got a C on the common app? I had a VERY poor PE teacher who gave participation grades based on whether he likes you or not.

If you call/email a college saying that you had a PE teacher that played favorites and graded unfairly, you will probably come across as whiney and making dumb excuses. You might as well write “OMG I had this teacher who was SOOOOOOOOO mean in tenth grade, he tooooootaly just didn’t liek me LOL!”
One C won’t kill you, especially if it’s in PE, and you don’t even have a legitimate explanation anyways

Just to clarify, I believe Standingout said that these ‘participation grades’ were not actually based on participation, rather how well the teacher took to you.

Yeah, you really dont need to type up a complaint. If feel REALLY strongly that the teacher’s decision to give you a bad grade was unjustified and you can back it up with enough support, then maybe I’d send one. It wont really kill your chances though, its P.E…

Seconded. Especially the whiny part. Typically it isn’t good to whine about bad educators when you’re applying to an educational institution. Though I guess it’s a stretch to call PE teachers “educators.”
