Should I Feel Inferior?

<p>I have seen the stats of those who have been accepted to UP and mine are a lot lower. I am still in shock that I got in. Here are my stats:</p>

<p>(530M)(570 V)(600 W)</p>

<p>Not sure of unweighted GPA. Weighted: 3.8</p>

<p>I had a very good gpa progression. From 3.2 frosh year to 4.3 senior year.</p>

<p>Senior yr. courses:
Economics
French IV Honors
Global Studies Honors
Precalculus
English IV
Physics
Theology Honors</p>

<p>I also have 4 years of history, english, math, foreign language, and science.</p>

<p>I think my personal statement for PSU was the best essay I wrote for any college. </p>

<p>I would say I had pretty good EC’s and a pretty good guidance rec.</p>

<p>On top of these things I am out of state and 7 other kids were accepted to UP in my school.</p>

<p>I have no special hook like a legacy or anything like that.</p>

<p>I sort of feel if I decide on PSU I won’t be able to handle the workload or something along those lines. I think I am a pretty smart person, but I do not test well. Should I feel inferior?</p>

<p>Did you get in for summer or fall? The expectations are a bit different.</p>

<p>Also, that you don’t test well is no reason for you to feel inferior. Some people just don’t perform well on stupid tests that measure “reasoning” skills. I am one of them. Regardless, I think I am a smart person because of things other than tests.</p>

<p>Harmon25 ~ Don’t use the scores of the kids on this forum as a guide. This forum attracts a disproportionate share of the very top students in the country, so the scores the other kids here will list are not the norm for PSU. If they admitted you, you should assume that you can do the work.</p>

<p>They say that GPA is 2/3 but thats not what I have found. I think they went more with SAT’s this year, cause my GPA was horrible and my SAT’s were awesome. That was the case with most of the other people in my school too.</p>

<p>The GPA is probably what go you in. A 4.3 is pretty Kick-A$$ isn’t that like 100%.</p>

<p>So that’s probably what got you in. Plus an 1100 isn’t EXTREMELY bad. just a hundred points lower then the average</p>

<p>Isn’t 1000 the average score for the SAT RT? Considering that PSU doesn’t use the writing section, 500 + 500 = 1000… that’s how I’ve always thought of it at least.</p>

My friend got in with a 1400/2400, 0 ecs, 85 GPA and 63/129 class rank. You are not at all “inferior”. </p>

<p>Nothing is ever definite. Don’t base your ability to get admitted on CC, because CC has la creme de la creme on it…and it’s not a very accurate view of who does and does not get in.</p>

<p>A lot of people say PSU base their decision on numbers. Will a 4.0/1250 guarantee a SOLID chance for OOS? Or should I boost my SAT higher?</p>

<p>killer a 4.0/1250 is fine. is the 4.0 W or UW? either way you are money for Penn State but you have time, boost your SAT if you want more opportunities like the honors college or if you want to go to another, more prestigious, school.</p>

<p>The 4.0 is weighted. I am going to research a little on the honors college right now. But if I get rejected there next year, I’m gone for good?</p>

<p>no I believe you can petition honors after your feshman year (or maybe I heard that somewhere else)
But you can also apply for the honors college after sophmore year</p>
