Essays: one essay is about my experience with working with refugee children. The other essay is about my autistic cousin, which explains my interest in studying psychology/autism. Both are excellent. I’ve been told the second one about my cousin has a lot of emotional appeal (does that help?). Both have been proofread by my 11th grade AP Lang teacher.

Recs: one from Organic Chemistry teacher, one from AP Psychology teacher, and a letter of recommendation from the Volunteer Coordinator and World Relief Atlanta, who I am close to.

Schools:
Princeton
Brown
Johns Hopkins
Northwestern
Rice
Emory (legacy)
UGA (applied EA)

Why would you forget about it? Might as well apply there seeing as it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I’d say you have a shot.

bump, please!

At the Ivies, it’s all about rank. If you are only top 10%, then you have no chance, but if you are in the top 3% then you might have a very small chance, based upon your SAT scores.

Why not apply to a lower Ivy or a place like Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Georgetown, USC, Notre Dame or Vanderbilt where you have real chances? Just my view.

If Princeton is your dream school you must apply, do you want to look back at this part of your life and wondered if you had? You are a senior in high school, not a 40 something with a family and bills to pay, it is too early to give up your dreams.

I’m going to have to disagree with the last poster. A guy at my high school a few years ago applied to 6 or 7 schools. He got rejected even from his safeties, and only got into Princeton. Strange things happen, your stats don’t give you any advantages but you do have a chance.

thanks!

can you also chance me for the other schools i listed?

awesome ECs and SAT scores… but only a decent GPA/rank. I agree that ivies and pretty much other top schools look at GPA/rank more than SAT scores. Its pretty much up to your essay/rec now. I believe if you write an extraordinary essay, you have a good shot in one of your reach schools…
Anyway… this is what i think…

Princeton-Reach
Brown-Reach
JHU-Low Reach
Northwestern-Low Reach
Rice-Low Reach (Maybe match)
Emory-Low Reach/Match
UGA- I dont know anything about UGA, but im sure you will get in.

oh yeah, chance me too, :)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/588529-chance-me-plz.html

I am a firm believer in applying where you want to apply, because if you don’t, you will always regret not knowing what would have happened.

HOWEVER, it is important to be realistic. While it is good to have a bit of hope, you must realize what kinds of students are also going to be applying to Princeton. They are going to have much higher GPAs and SAT scores. But, if you are willing to accept that there is a good chance that you will not get in, then by all means go for it.

Don’t let anyone tell you your grades are too low. There are many people with with worse GPA/rank that are admitted to Princeton. So… apply!

sankyuu :)

Princeton, Brown - Reach (reach for everyone)
JHU - Low Reach/High Match
Northwestern - High Match
Rice - Match
Emory - Match
UGA - In

Basically your SAT scores are holding you down just a little bit since they fall slightly below the average at some of the schools, but overall you have decent chances at most of your schools. I think you will get accepted by at least two or three. Please chance me? I am very desperate.

just forget all your colleges and make your life simple :P

lol st. aegis. what a simple clean cut solution to life!

Go ahead and apply to Princeton; it doesnt hurt, besides the app fee. I think your best bet is either Emory or Rice. UGA is def in, but you’re better than that. The rest are reaches.
