Should I get a Bachelor's Degree?

Hey guys,

I started community college in 2010 and was enrolled for Computer Engineering to later transfer to a 4-year university. I realized 2 years later that it was too difficult for me and switched to an AS in Network Engineering, which I enjoy more. My parents kept pestering me about when I was going to finish because by 2014 I would have been done, but since I switched majors my graduation got pushed to December 2015. I am almost 24 and still live with my parents and It's very painful for me because I desperately want to be independent. I feel like after 5 years of college and only having an AS degree was a waste of time and my parents would be upset. Plus, people say I will have a hard time finding a job because 90% of employers want someone with a bachelors degree in my field. I just want to get a decent paying job and not move back into my parent's place. Should I stick it out for another 2 years? Or just get a job?

why cant you do both? move into a shared house, with your own room, and go to school. Lots of people are able to do it.
As to whether or not you should get a better degree, that’s up to the type of life you want later on. If you’re ok getting by, then stay where you are. If you’d like to earn a bit more, go for it. It’s only two more years of your parents.
You could always try to go back to school later for the bachelors but its harder to do once you’re out.
If you are already in a bachelor’s degree program, I say go for it.

I’m 24 with an AS as well, and I won’t finish my bachelors for another 3 years, so its ok. But I don’t live with my parents…

Go to the career center on your campus, and find out about jobs for people with the degree that you are completing. Get a job, and then finish college.
