Should I get a laptop/desktop with a touchscreen?

How useful is the touchscreen in college?

Not at all IMO. Unless you have some preference for it, there isn’t any sort of need.

Microsoft built in that direction and are already starting away from it a bit with Windows 10, realizing that tablets computers have very different functions, one very conducive to touch screen, the other one not nearly as much.

No. It’s annoying to have to lift your hands to use your fingers as a mouse while typing on the keyboard.

I seriously find the touchscreen to be useless. You have the keyboard and the scrolling pad, what more do you need?

Just save the extra money and get a normal laptop

My work computer has a touchscreen and Windows 10. I find it useless. The only time I use it is when my touchpad isn’t cooperating with me for a few seconds.

The only time I think it’s worth it is if you get one of those 2-in-1 machines that folds back to a tablet or tent style. Then you kind of need it - but those models also come standard with a touch-screen.

The last time that this 62-year-old’s work laptop from Dell died, the office replaced it with a Surface. I love the touch screen and disagree with all the above comments. I hate touchpads and have no problems switching between mouse, keyboard, and screen. My only problem is that I keep trying to touch the screen on my office monitors.
