I know many expat families who gave away their dog when they moved to another country, rather than subject the poor pooch to a long quarantine. Our previous dog was too old and frail to make the trip, so we gave him to my BIL in the US. Our old friend died less than 6 months later.
If your dog is lonely by itself all the time, maybe it wd be better for it to be w a family that could devote more time to it.
