Should i give up all hope on top schools with my SAT score?

<p>So i got an 1810 on my SAT, which is really depressing because i was hoping i get at least 2100 and now i have no time left to do another one since i have to send my scores to universities. </p>

<p>These are some of the unis i planned on applying to for economics/business:
Harvard
Stanford
U Michigan
UT Austin
Boston University
UW Madison
UC San Diego
UC Berkeley
Duke
Carnegie Mellon
UNC</p>

<p>Should i just give up on all of these choices or is it still worth my time applying to them? If its of any use, i am also taking subjects test in math level 2 and literature on dec 6th.

<p>Sorry, but you won’t be getting into those schools with your SAT score. Don’t waste your money. Aim lower.</p>

<p>Sorry but I think the chances for most of them are 0 :frowning: although give a shot at SD, i know someone who got in with a similar score.

<p>I agree with previous posters. Unfortunately these schools are nearly, if not entirely, impossible for you to get into. </p>

<p>Unless you cured cancer, ended world hunger, or did something amazing, you have no chance at any of these schools except maybe UT or UMich(in state)</p>

<p>what state do you live in? you’re in the middle 50 for UW-madison and UCSD so if you’re in-state for either, i wouldn;t count them out</p>

<p>I understand all of your opinions, but listen. Im a terrible test taker. I was getting 2100+ on my practice and i absolutely flunked on this test! If you see everything else in my profile you’ll see that im a very well rounded student honestly. So yes, i know that 1810 is nowhere good enough for some of these schools, but its just one part of the whole application.</p>

<p>@minminminmin, why do you think UCLA is a match? @benisgold, agreed but at least im going to retake it in january,fingers crossed i can pull the score that i can normally get when i practice. That being said, does anyone have links to some incredibly helpful SAT guide posts? I will not let one factor be the reason I couldnt go to a good school.</p>

<p>because my brother applied to UCLA with SAT score 1830 (major economics) and he got accepted </p>

<p>@sjp1997, you asked the question without any other information regarding your application except for your
SAT score. How else should we chance you? Looking just at your SAT, you will not get into most of the schools on that list.</p>

<p>Most of those are going to be unlikely. Yes the colleges do look at your applications hollistically, but they also have many other outstanding applicants to choose from. My advice? Create a new list with balanced matches, reaches, and safeties that is reasonable given the new information that you have been given. Don’t just bank on the january scores because they are unlikely to change by a huge margin. Your list is extremely reach-heavy and would be difficult to admit even if you had higher SAT scores. Reorganize your list if you want to have options by the time May rolls around.</p>

<p>You have a shot at Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD…it really depends where youre from. At my public school people get into UCSD and top UCs with 1800-1990 SAT scores</p>

<p>Same for my old high school; friends with scores in that range currently attend UCLA/Berk. UC’s care more about GPA, specially Berkeley. Def. apply if you’re instate.</p>

<p>I know some people who’ve gotten into BU with a 1780 SAT so it’s definitely probable if you give it a try. the rest are probably going to be super tough, but it really depends how you present yourself through your essays and such. good luck to you!</p>

<p>Harvard is actually test optional this year, I think people on this site put WAY too much value on test scores, if your profile screams top tier then go top tier, you shouldn’t settle because of a 4 hour test.</p>
