should I go for a B.S. in Applied Statistics?

Hello. I just turned 24 and 2 courses away from completing a B.A. in Psychology. I already feel so old and wish I knew what I wanted to do a long time ago. That way, I would’ve finished at 21 like most kids.

As old as I feel in college, I’m considering staying to get a B.S. in Applied Stats (or maybe a Masters). Late in the game, I decided I wasn’t going to pursue graduate work in Psych like I planned… it’s just not for me. The issue now is that there’s almost nothing I can do with a mere BA in Psych. Also, there’s a lot more $ involved in Applied Stats. I check on places like monster.com & type in “Statistician” and always find several jobs that only require a BS and pay around $70k.

Do you think it’s worth it to stay & go for that Stats major or am I too old?

You’re not too old. Is it worth it? Depends how much it costs, how much you like statistics and how far you are willing to go.

I think it could be potentially worth it. I don’t have much background in Stats except for the intro class I took which I did very well in & liked. Because it was only a scratch of the surface, it didn’t go into detail so I certainly don’t have the whole picture. I’m willing to put in a good 3 years (full time). Thanks for your reply.
