I am graduating High School a semester early. I love learning but I just couldn’t stand my school any longer. What I wanna know is what are the pros and cons of going to college in the spring semester instead of waiting until till the fall semester
Personally I’d wait until the fall semester and start with the rest of the incoming freshman. It will be much easier socially starting with your class, going through orientation etc. and it will likely be an better transition academically as you won’t be the only new freshman trying to fit in when others have already established routines. I’d suggest you find something you want to do for the second semester (work, volunteer, travel if you can afford it etc.) and start college on a normal schedule.
Life is not a race, it is a journey.
If you plan to use federal financial aid (Pell, Stafford loans, etc.) you may find yourself in a situation where you won’t qualify for aid that first semester. I used to work at a state university, and in our state, the way the high school financing formula worked, even if a student graduated a semester early, they were counted a high school student for the entire academic year. Therefore, they were not considered a college student until their class graduated in the spring.
I don’t know if other states handle aid the same way, but if aid is a consideration, you may want to ask.
A lot depends on the kind of college or university you would like to attend. If it is your local CC or an in-state public U, there would be lots of others starting at the semester.
Well it would be a in-state public university
