I’m conflicted. If I stay at my current school, I won’t have to study much to maintain a 4.0 GPA; I can, therefore, spend more time on my research, EC’s, and other ventures. However, I don’t really like the school, but I’m willing to stay if it’ll be more advantageous in the long run.

At the math/sci school, the competition is more fierce, and the classes are harder. I’d have to study quite a bit to maintain my 4.0, and I’d have less time for my EC’s.

What do you guys think?

Are you interested in pursuing a career in math/science?

I want to major in biochem and plan to go into med school, yeah.

i’d be much happier at the easy school

Idk if the easiness of the school would affect me negatively

Competition is good and i think (well you should ) you will be able to gain more knowledge if you went to the math/sci school than the normal school.

What state are you in if you don’t mind me asking?

Dude same here from ms.

Mississippi school of math and science in Columbus right?

If so, and ur a guy remember its like right next to the Mississippi college for women

I think you should go to the STEM school because I never had any opportunity to go to a good high school and I don’t think it’s something you should pass up just because it won’t be “easy”…if you want to go to a selective college, it’s probably a good idea to get used to things not being easy. But colleges can’t penalize you for going to any particular high school, if that’s what you’re asking.

If you think you can handle it, I think it’s worth it, even if it is more of a challenge. Being challenged is the way you grow. You’ll be better prepared for college and have a chance to spend time with like-minded people.

Kypdurron, LOL seriously? Are you already there, or are you applying?

Right now, I’m leaning towards going. I talked to a few of the profs there, though, and they told me that about 10-20 people do research per semester, and 3-6 participate in the local fair that feeds into ISEF. Would my research be less unique to colleges, since there will be others from my school also doing research?

I’m not there. I like the coast to much to leave. But I have a few friends who got the grades to go

Ooh, so you’re not applying/haven’t applied?

I’m starting my application in a few weeks LOL
