Should I go to NYU?

I'm a high school student considering going to NYU and I think I have the stats to be relatively competitive. I'm just wondering if I will like NYU? How good of a college is it in different aspects? So I would appreciate it for some people who have some experience with NYU to comment on this post and tell me their opinions of it, in different aspects and/or in general. Thank you!

Have you ever visited NYU? If you haven't PLEASE do. The campus is what I think makes most applicants decisions. Why? Because it's not really a "traditional" campus. Most people don't like the idea of having no space and tall, very tall buildings surrounding you. NYU doesn't really have a campus, it's just multiple buildings surrounding a park....and I LOVE it. I'm a city girl. A born and raised New Yorker. I don't see myself in a small college town with an enclosed campus. That's why when I visted NYU, I just fell in love with its "campus". Academics is one factor, but you can study the same major at any other school that is not NYU. So I'm advising you to visit the campus, not once or twice, but multiple times just to see if you feel comfortable in the setting.

Like I said before, some people love the city life, but there are others who just want that traditional college experience.

^ I agree. It is very important to visit. I'm a jersey girl who has grown to really love the city and completely fell in love with the campus when I visited; however, I have met quite a few people who hate the idea of a campus without borders. Visiting will also give you a feel for the school, see the students, feel the vibe. I find that visiting really helps me decide whether I like the school or not; I immediately get a feeling.

agreed. NYU has been my dream school since I was really little. I visited New York almost every year, and always walked through the campus, but I did an official tour when I went to audition in November and I just fell in love. I'm so enamored with everything about it.
But I know that my friends, for example, would hate it. It completely depends on the person.

Yea I'll try to visit whenever I get a chance.

If you love diversity,Greenwich Village, great educational oopurtunities, NYC at your back door and part of your campus, then it might be for you. But as other posters have mentioned, you MUST visit. You will know right away if it the place for you. You can actually feel the energy around the main campus. The one thing I would add is that, if you do decide to go there, you will need to seek out your peers and your tribe. The school is large and can seem overwhelming, but the dorm communities do a lot to get the freshman to socialize, there are a ton of clubs to join to meet others and plenty of social venues to help make it work for you.

thanks! I really do want to be in the city, especially for the social and career/internship opportunities
