Should I go to Peddie School,Bolles School,Milton Academy,Phillips Academy or UCC

UCC is Upper Canada College in Toronto
I am from Dublin,Ireland
I want to go to a big school that has good facilities
I want to play american football and hopefully be on a successful team
I want to be in or near a big city
I want very good academics especially English
I also want either a Newspaper,Photography or Radio club
Is Bolles the school for me?

First, you should see which ones you get into then if you have a choice, you can choose which one you want to go to.

Ohh and by the way, the school that you might like is Phillips Academy, it ticks all your boxes but first you need to get in. Good Luck !

I am very good at academics
however in Andover I hear the teachers expect everyone to be excellent at everything
but what happens if I dont understand something and I fall behind the class
will the teachers help me get back up or do they expect me to that myself?
also, are the teachers helpful and caring for you to do the best you can or do they just teach you

All the schools you listed above are probably all very nice. I never heard of Peddie or Bolles but I know some about these other schools. Actually I attend UCC. Milton is a renouned school in the US but Philips is the one really hard to get in.Trust me Philips only takes (at the least) students with A’s and at least 95th percentile in SSAT. In the other hand UCC is actually not hard to get in if you are pretty smart. But this also changes depending on your grade. When i first got in, i was in 7th grade and it was easy, but after that, they only accept the # of students that left. for example, if 5 guys left the school in 8th grade, ucc would take 5 new guys for 9th grade next year. hope this helps, and by the way ucc has sick facilities including a state of the art hockey arena with 2 hockey rinks, only 2 years old gym with 2 basketball courts and 6 glass nets, artificial grass (or turf) football field and lots of other fields. but keep in mind that ucc plays canadian football, which is very similar to american football just difference in size of field and some other minor stuff.

dhurley, I do not want to put your hopes down but Andover is a hard school to get in to and even if you do go there, do not go if you are scared of a big courseload …

@Lawrencian
I think I might apply to UCC. After all it is in the great city of Toronto. However I have never been to Canada. Is it similar to the US? By the way I am Irish so since very few Irish apply to these schools I have been told I have a slight advantage. In UCC, what are the teachers like? What are the boys like? Do you ever meet up with girls?

This actually isn’t true. SSAT scores matter very little in one’s acceptance compared to other factors. There are students who get in the 80’s in their overall SSAT score and still get accepted. That being said, it is very difficult to get into. I don’t know about Bolles, but I can tell you Andover is academically and opportunistically the strongest of your list. Milton, however, is also strong and only 10 minutes from Boston, whereas Andover is about 30. I’ve heard good things about Peddie, but it is not as strong as Andover or Milton and is not near a big city.

The teachers at Andover EXPECT you to try your best at everything. They in no way expect you to be excellent at everything, but they like to see you succeed. They are always there during conference or after school to answer your questions, and, for the most part, respond promptly to emails. If you don’t get something, they will take the time to teach you. I go to Andover, by the way, but I also applied to Milton.

Go to milton!

sorry for late reply dhurley, i dont know if ucc will give you an advantage cause your irish but im sure they will accept you if you are smart enough. dont think its really hard cause compared to schools like andover, its so much easier, and dont get struck by your ssat scores. some teachers are (pardon my language) s!!! but most are nice, like very few are really mean and they are all like substitutes so its all good. and if your worried about girls, you shouldn’t be cause 2 blocks away (literally) there is the best girls school in canada and all the boys here know them. the boys here are bros.
