I really want to go to UCSD but there are a few problems that make me hesitate…
-
I’m going in as an undecided - physical science
: I want to major biochem but it’s a capped major so I don’t know if I’ll be able to get in. I heard undecided students have a
less chance because the priority is given to other students with the major. As a second choice I’m thinking about
majoring chemistry and then changing my major to biochem but would that be too hard?

I’m an international student and the tuition overall is $65200…
: I really want to go to this school but the tuition is just too much. It’s about $5000-10000 more expensive than the other
school I’m considering (which is UIUC). Is it really worth the expensive tuition to go to UCSD? And are there any
type of financial aid I can get other than having to loan from an American bank?
Please help me decide… Also, please give me a general information about UCSD and Sixth College… Thank you…
As an International student, no US bank is going to lend you enough money to attend UCSD. If you have a better financial package at UIUC, you should consider going there.
UC’s do not give Financial aid to International students as you are finding out, so unless you can pay full fees, consider some other schools if money is an issue.

Any other questions, post in the UCSD forum: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-san-diego/
The Biochemistry/Cell Biology major is impacted, but the Chemistry/Biochemistry major is not. For CS, I’d consider UIUC on par with UCSD–for bio and chem, less so. Sixth is fairly easy, and apartments are nice but dorms are not.
@someone17 It kind of sounds like you answered your own question - if UCSD is unaffordable, it’s not really an option. UIUC is an excellent university and you should not hesitate to go there if they gave you a nice package that makes it affordable for you.
