Should I have applied?

Back in December, I thought that I would be rejected everywhere. But now I’m getting likely letters to vandy, rice, and cornell (granted it might be because of race, but whatever)
Did I have a shot at Princeton?
What do yall think?

Cornell is a great school. Do not dwell on what you did not do. If you really wanted to go to Princeton, you would have applied. You will end up where you are meant to be. Good luck!

Maybe, maybe not. But honestly, you didn’t apply, so why bother asking? Maybe it’s just me, but if I didn’t apply and everyone was saying, “OMG, yes! You totally would have been in”, it would have only made me kick myself, you know?

ya totally get where you’re coming from
I was hoping that people would tell me I had no chance precisely so that I wouldn’t kick myself
I figured that everyone would say my SAT was too low or something

I guess I have my answer:
it doesn’t matter

Don’t second-guess yourself. You may have had a shot at Princeton, but you’ll do great at Cornell or whereever else you choose to go.

You had me at “hispanic, male, Arkansas.”

No you would definitely have been rejected.

Feel better :)

yessss. you should have definitely applied.
there’s no point thinking back on it since its too late… and you got into good colelges already so i’d say chill and be happy!

You were so in!

I was in Quiz Bowl too, but we call it Scholastic Bowl in IL.

I’d be kicking myself right about now, because I would say that you were a VERY, and I mean VERY, and I mean 08-09 Los Angeles Lakers STRONG candidate. 50-60%+ chance of getting in. Your SAT 2s were amazing. Your SAT was decent. Your Extra-Curriculars were among the best that I’ve ever seen.

You got into Cornell, which is a great school, so no need to get too upset. But then again, you could have gotten into Princeton, which is an even better school…

Just kidding about you being a very strong applicant, but I still say that you had a decent shot of getting in. You may or may not have, but the knowledge that you ma have is certainly haunting. Don’t sweat it too much, though, Cornell, Rice and Vanderbilt are great schools.

That was pretty harsh ^…“just kidding about you being a strong applicant”

I said “very strong”, which he isn’t. I was jut clarifying that I was only kidding that he probably would have gotten in. I said that he should have applied because he had a decent shot, which he did. I don’t see how I was being harsh.

no offense taken: I understand perfectly well that I would have been an average, if not below average, Princeton applicant

^ I bow down to your humbleness.

OH MY GOD YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN SO IN YOU ARE PRACTICALLY OVERQUALIFIED ZOMG PRINCETON WOULD HAVE PAID YOU TO COME

Seriously though, whats the big deal? A few places up on the US Newsweek rankings? It barely means anything; Cornell is a spectacular school and I’m positive you’ll turn out fine no matter where you go. Don’t fret! :)

From what I’ve heard, to get into Princeton requires some extra something–the one boy I knew was a good student, but he was also the state champion shot putter. So unless you’re that kind of show pony (not that this isn’t a nice kid, he is) who has some sort of extra bragworthy accomplishment, don’t worry about it!
