I have been graduated from high school for almost three years now. All of the people whom i knew form high school are all almost finished with college and here i am just having barely started. i have only two credits from the past two years (BIOL1408-BEGINNING SPAN I) I am sitting here getting older, and really want to be finished with college, so i can move on with my life. My father keeps persuading me to pursue something in medical science, in which I have absolutely zero interest in. My plan was just to stick it out for two years and continue on with my career, and not go to a University since I can’t afford to pay for it(although I originally intended to go to one).
Try not to worry about what everyone else is doing and focus on what you really want to do. Many states have career agencies that can help you to figure out what you want to do for a living and what it takes to get there. It sounds like you don’t really know, and you shouldn’t spend too much money on education until you figure that out.
@socaldreamer795 Completing two years at a community college will save you tons of money, unless you apply to schools that meet 100% of need-based aid. If you do not qualify for much financial aid, try searching for schools that will likely give you merit-based aid. Attending a community college for two years enables you to earn a competitive GPA, since you’ve only taken 2 classes. You have plenty of time to earn up to 60 units before transferring to a university of your choice, from which you may earn a degree in a field that makes you happy (not your Dad!).
Just my 2 cents. : )
You haven’t said what you are interested in pursuing as a major/career… I can understand by your Dad may be pressuring you to pursue something in the medical field, job growth and security to name a few reasons. Have you considered radiology technician or similar. Generally a career path that is medical but not heavy “medical” and one that can usually be obtained through a cc path.
thank you for all the help that you have given as well as everyone else. Yeah i did forget to list what i want to major in. I have been changing my interests constantly ever since i was about 9 years old. When i got to high school I thought i wanted to live in New York, and work in finance/banking (on Wall street). Now since that time I’ve done some thinking and thought of something that I had really liked, which was film. I want to possibly open up my own film production studio like some Youtubers and famous actors have done, but I’m not sure what i should study to pursue that.
