When my parents heard that my school wont be offering AP Physics next year, they started considering maybe changing my school. I dont think I would mind. My school has a crappy strings and computer program. Science is decent I guess, but not the best. Anyway, since these are the subjects in which i am most interested, it prbly would be better for me to change. But then again, junior year is really important and it might be hard to adjust to another new school. Colleges would notice that I had switched and would take that into consideration when judging me, right?

i vote to change schools.

No, don’t change schools. You’ve already developed your high school plan so far, it’s not wise to change in one of the most important years of high school. You can take AP Physics with a distance education program, through a community college, self-study with a tutor, the list goes on. You don’t have to learn only through what your school offers. If I did that, I’d be more stupid than Bush so to speak ;)

The problem with changing schools as a junior for one class is that any relationships you have developed in ECs as far as leadership goes would be lost. You would start over. So look at the BIG PICTURE. If you aren’t involved in the other activities at your school, then no loss. If so, maybe a loss. If you change schools and go to a more challenging school, also note that there might be prereqs for those ap classes, and would you qualify? As for the music programs, are their tryouts? are you good enough?

As far as changing schools, it happens all the time. That won’t be a black mark, it would only be a problem if it happened for disciplinary reasons.

So really think about the whole picture, not just from the view of a couple of classes. THen any decision you make will be informed and not panicked. As well, can you just switch schools? I mean, for public schools, is it that easy? As well, many deadlines have passed for private schools. So look into that as well.

Well i dont have any leadership positions yet in the ECs i do, cept for being captain of my schools JV JETS team. My school doesnt have many ECs in math, science, and computers too, which might be another good reason for switching.

Switch schools. You’re going to leave your relationships anyways - and if you have any close friends, just contact them afterwards. I’m a sophomore leaving my school too - only that I am going to university.

Adjusting to a new high school honestly shouldn’t affect your grades much at all. Self-study is good but if there’s no point in continuing in your school, then don’t go there. I didn’t find a point staying where I was at, other than another summer research program, and judged that a single summer research program wouldn’t be worth two more years of high school

Yes that would be a good idea but taking AP Physics outside of the school is costly. Unless you decide to self-study, which OWNS but won’t be on your apps for summer progs next year.
