<p>My essays contain some grammatical mistakes. (actually, they are still acceptable, but I don’t want to make it sound too perfect because it will sound a little suspicious) should I let the schools know that the reason why this happends is that i’m not a native speaker?

<p>Don’t point the mistakes out to them. They may not notice them.</p>
<p>I think somewhere on the common app they ask what language is spoken in your home/what is your first language. They’ll gather that information from there and hopefully be more lenient with you.</p>
<p>There is no excuse for grammatical mistakes in your essays. If you are not a native English speaker, get a native English speaker to read your essays and help you correct your grammatical errors, so that the essay reader can focus on the contact, not the misuse of English. Be sure to use spellcheck. When I was a journalism student, one of my professors said to me, “We can’t print excuses.” Neither can you. Good luck!</p>
