Should I limit myself to instate colleges?

I live with one parent, who makes 10-15k a year. I have a 4.2/4.3 weighted, 3.8 unweighted. Cali resident. Haven’t taken sat/act yet. I’m black, fillipino, and Cherokee Indian.

I want to go out of state because I don’t feel as if I’m good enough for UCLA or UCSD. And I don’t feel good enough for a private that would give good financial aid, such as UMiami or USC.

What should I do?

Have you calculated your UC/CSU admissions GPA? That can help assess your chances at UC and CSU schools. (But your GPA looks pretty good to begin with.)

Have you taken the SAT or ACT yet? Some fairly generous merit scholarships like the University of Alabama ones depend on sufficiently high SAT or ACT scores. And if you score over 700 on each SAT section, you’re in the running for the top schools (though the super-reaches like Stanford, MIT, Harvard, etc. are still going to be super-reaches even if you have “maximum” academic credentials). Being black and Cherokee helps at a lot of schools, though (officially) not UC and CSU.

Why are you spamming the forums with the same question asked 15 different ways?
