So I hear that atherton and simmons are nicer, larger, quieter, and have a better location then east halls and whatnot but i was wondering about the more important questions:
- do you miss out on anything by living in south as an honors kid instead of east?
- is it bad to live in east as an honors kid? (Im guessing you miss out on honors college stuff?)
- Are the honors dorms filled with a bunch of nerds or would a person who works for good grades but still loves to party (im talking sorority frat level lol) on the weekend be happy?
- Can you room in the honors dorm with a non-honors person?

assuming that you were accepted into the Honors College for this coming year (I am a current scholar living in Atherton):

Not really, if anything we get more out of the first year as we are close to all the goings on throughout campus. East is its own little world.

Its not bad. You can do what you want. People on the board seem to think that east is a constant party. In all honesty, when I have been there during the week it isn’t all that bad.

weekends are a different story however.

I really don’t know why you aren’t identifying yourself as a nerd. I mean you did just get into one of the top honors colleges in the nation.

I think you were going for “socially awkward”. In the honors dorms you have a nice mix of these with more of the normal obsessive overachievers who know how to have a good time on the weekends.

You can request it however it is not guaranteed as that person is not in the SLO himself. If you HAVE to live with that person, request east.

Personally, if you want to have more of the freshmen exp, I would go with requesting a room mate that you meet online (facebook), someone you don’t know. For me, it taught me how to deal with new situations and got a lot more out of the transtion than someone who requested a bff from HS.

If you choose honors housing, I would look for someone else looking to live in honors housing and request them on your ELiving. You will most likely be matched with them. Look for someone with a similar major, habits, etc etc.

thanks! that helped!

and yes… socially awkward is a better word… cause im most defiantly a nerd! haha
