Should I mention my father's case of Early Alzheimer's in the Additional Information section?

Hello,

Should I mention my father’s case of Early Alzheimer’s in the Additional Information section? I didn’t address this in any of the essays as I wanted my application to be about me, but now I’m thinking about adding this piece of information (not necessarily describing how I took care of him and stuff…Just stating that my father was diagnosed with EA about 5 years ago and so I couldn’t really make large commitments with regards to ECs) in the Additional Information section. Should I?

Thank you.

Seems a good idea if it did account for why you did not EA one school (rather than a string of schools).

I’m so sorry about your dad.

If it has had an impact on your HS life, it is a reasonable piece of information to add, if you can do so matter-of-factly – without sounding as if you’re making excuses and asking for pity. But if it’s part of how your time and energy has been occupied, it’s important to account for that.

And I’m sorry. AZ is a tough road at any age, and early onset is heartbreaking.

It clearly has had an impact on your high school experience, so I would include it. I agree to state things matter of factly as additional information not an excuse .

i feel like just simply stating it will seem to be very random, unless your personal statement is about your backgroud, I’m really sorry!
