my senior year I took the AP ab calculus exam and got 5. I was suppose to take calculus 2 but there was no calculus 2 class that would fit my schedule. so should i not take math this semester or should i take calculus 1 so i don’t forget everything?

have you considered taking calc at a nearby college?

I’d see if you could rearrange your schedule to take calculus 2 in the fall. If you need to, try to speak to a dean/advisor at the college about this.

oh, my bad, I thought you were speaking about first semester senior year. when you get to campus, talk to your advisor. or else re-arrange your schedule. you can take humanities I another semester.

What’s your major?

Context like what your major is and what the conflicting other courses are would be important in making this decision.

But also try the old calculus 1 final exams of your college to check your knowledge of the material.

If you got a 5 you probably will not ‘forget’ so much of the information that you cannot do just fine in the Spring.

Do you need Calculus for your major/general eds?

You can lose a lot of info in just one semester if you are completely removed from the content. If you absolutely can’t fit in Calc 2, I’d say to at least study your old AP Calc material so that you can stay knowledgeable.

Are you getting credit for Calc 1? If so, then I’d really double-think taking and paying for Calc 1 when it’s free.

However, there’s also this to consider: do you feel completely comfortable with the Calc 1 material? I know you got a 5 on the AP exam, but you’d be surprised at how many people retake Calc 1 in college anyway. You can probably Google it and get some more specific advice on that.

I hope it works out for you!
