Should I pass on design school in New York City for a faster degree at WSU Spokane?

Hey,
I’m 23 and an Interior Design major. I’m in quite a dilemma.

I just finished my first semester at The Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan. I’m a transfer student from Seattle, (who went to a fully accredited design program).

BUT the problem is, they only admitted me as a FRESHMAN! So, this really set me back, and it’s annoying to have to do so many classes over again. I was so upset my first month there, that I ended up applying to Washington State University’s Interior Design program.

They ended up accepting me as a junior level student! But WSU is in Spokane, and that certainly is not going to offer the connections, prestige, and experience of New York. After my semester at FIT I could see how the school could open doors… but what I’m struggling to decide if this is worth the extra YEARS of school I would have.

At WSU I would graduate with a BA Spring 2011. At FIT I would graduate with a BFA either Fall 2012 or Spring 2013.

A thing about FIT though is that the school was highly fashion oriented… I mean the students there did get great connections, internships etc. But Interior Design didn’t offer anything “remarkable” to it’s students except the FIT name.

I also was accepted to the New York School of Interior Design, but I doubt I could attend there because it’s very expensive…but it was always my dream school. If I went there they said I would graduate Fall 2011.

Help please. I thank you so much!
