Should I pursue a double major?

Hi,
I’m currently a student at a community college in Alabama. I’m planning to pursue a double major. I don’t know if I’m having second thoughts about not doing one but, I just need advice on if I should actually pursue a double major?
The school that I plan to attend is Middle Tennessee State University and I plan to major in their Apparel Design program and their recording industry program with a concentration in commercial music. Every since, I was a young child I loved everything about the arts and I still do. Art and music was always my best subject in school even if, I did struggle in them. My family is very musical and some of them tried to make it big but didn’t. I did play in band and did performances when I was younger. I also have a keyboard that I play and write songs on. For the fashion side, I think I loved art first and then music. I always loved to draw people in clothing and over this past summer my mom brought me a sewing machine and I always wanted to either work in a major fashion house or have my own successful boutique and go to fashion shows overseas and in the U.S. I do love competition and I can get very competitive along with over- doing it at times.
However, my mom is in the military. I talked with my mom. She told me that it would probably be too much for me even though she thinks I can do it. But she says I should take it one step at a time but, I don’t want to delay any opportunities because they’re both candidacy programs. I already talked with my adviser about this. I just need other insight.

Should I pursue a double major in Apparel Design and in Commercial songwriting? Most of my family members think that I won’t do anything big or surprising because I’m more on the reserved side and that sucks because they put all their effort into the more outgoing kids in my family even though, they’re really bad(seriously). So I’m just trying to find out what I should do so, I won’t look stupid. I did do a computer science major for back-up but, I couldn’t handle it because it didn’t feel right even though, I was good at it.

Any advice? What’s your insight on this? Anything would be helpful. Thanks, in advanced!
