I just took the May 2 SAT Reasoning, and I have a feeling I did not do very good. It was my first SAT, and I was aiming for a 2100. I think I got a 790 in math, but I have no clue what I got in everything else.

In my CR and writing sections, I did not get to finish the tests. In the writing section, I ended up rushing toward the end of the 35 minute section, and ran out of time (with 1 or 2 unanswered). In the CR section, I ran out of time for almost every section, and my estimate would be about 10 unanswered questions.

So the dilemma I am currently facing is: should I register for another SAT in June (planning on taking the Math 1 and 2), or should I wait and see if my scores are good enough? I do not want to waste my time (studying for the Math) or money, because if I do not get a good score I can either take the reasoning again, or not take it at all (because I live in Canada, so I do not need to take standardized tests).

But i kind of want to get into an Ivy League, maybe Cornell. I am thinking that if I can get a different method for the CR passages, I might not run out of time. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey, I am kind of in a similar situation, repping canada here myself.
Since our universities dont really need testing, pretty much all of our american applications should be reaches right? Im also debating taking the subject tests or the SAT. The reason i think subject tests is because there are many testing dates next year, where studying for the SAT would be minimal as i have already taken it. If i can get a subject test or two out of the way this June it might be a better bet.

Yea I guess. I just dunno if i am ready for the two math subject tests…I heard it is better to have calculus for the Math 2 test, and calculus is only offered in grade 12 at my school. On top of that, my school is so small that we do not even have advanced courses (except calculus, which does not really count).

I took the math subject tests on SparkNotes, and I only got 720 and 740 with half an hour overtime!! Kind of killing my morale.

yea after spending the weekend leading upto the SAT studying, i have not been motivated to start prepping for SAT IIs. I took gr 11 math in grade 10 so i took the adv functions and calc this year so, turned out to be a good call.
are you in an ontario public school?

^ no I am in the biggest school on Prince Edward Island. You probably do not know where that province is lol. It is north of New Brunswick, east of Quebec, and west of Nova Scotia.

Well my dad is saying if I do not get into some good school in the US, then I will go to UPEI (kind of lame). But I am saying to myself that if I do not get into some good university in the US, then I will go to UT or Queens or McGill or MacMasters or something.

I’ll probably be applying to McMaster’s Health Sciences cuz my brother’s enrolled in that program,or maybe UT,
but hopefully I get accepted to UCLA or Berkeley (I was born in L.A. woot woot!!)

I’ve only known three other people here in Canada (my classmates) who have taken the SAT,and they’re all getting >2300 on the reasoning test, o.o

Now that I have all you canadians here, I want to take this chance to ask what YOU guys got on your reasoning or subject tests,

I’ll go first:

SAT Reasoning: 2080
SAT subject test: Math level II: 800 Physics: 750
AP Calculus - 5

come on now lets try to stay on topic. what is everyones suggestions for my dilemma?

edit: ^ i was aiming for a 2100, but then on test day I ran out of time for CR, missed 10 or so questions. not to mention i probably got another 10 wrong. I hope i get at least 2000.

@careyprice,that’s what I’m trying to figure out,if I’m a cali resident, then getting accepted to UCLA would be like getting accepted to McMaster’s crappiest program…

i dont think so because im also an american citizen…i think you need to be living there and paying taxes…so get ready for 50k/year if u get in lol
and may2 was my first test
and we dont have ap courses so im wondering if im disadvantaged in any way
i am taking THE hardest imaginable courseload at my school

@Gaoez
if you havent done any sub tests and you need a few for admissions, probably a good idea to write those, and maybe give urslef more time to prep for SAT the second time
