Should I rely on MyEdu than ratemyprofessor?

One class is terrible because the teachers of the class are not good at ratemyprofssor.

I am looking at myedue also. I discover that Myedy the A teacher’s rating is more higher than other teachers (it means the A teacher’s As’ is 32%), but at ratemyprofosser says, too low ratings and many negative comments.

I took the same class with the B teacher, but I dropped the class because it was horrible and did not get good grades. I registered the class again because many people said it is easy. However, this B teacher’s rating at myedu is not high (As 24%) and at ratemyprofsser, not bad.

What should I do?

This post is a little incomprehensible to me so I’ll do my best. I have found the reviews on Rate My Professors to be extremely accurate 100% of the time (overall). If the students say that the professor is unclear, he is unclear. If they write that he gives impossible assignments, you know that you will be getting hard assignments.

ratemyprofessor is subjective…myedu is AMAZING and lets you analyze the data for yourself. I use a combination of the two

RateMyProfessor is awfully subjective and its silly to rely on other ppl’s opinion when you have no idea what kind of student they are, what kind of background they entered with, and it even depends on which class the professor is teaching. Not to mention, because so many students only focus on grades, their outlook on the teacher sways drastically depending on how they did in the class which isnt actually a good rating of the teacher. I mean face it, there are lots of students who go to 10% of the classes, do poorly, and rate the professor low. It’s silly. If possible ask someone you know who has had the teacher. It’s the only way to get reliable information.

I take everything one ratemyprofessor with a grain of salt. It can be useful, but I tend not to put very much stock in it. As already mentioned, a lot of those reviews are very objective. Even just talking to people around my school, I don’t know how many times I’ve heard “this teachers ridiculous,” or &$^ that teacher!!! He’s an #@&#$!!!" Only to take the class, and find that the teacher is awesome. What you’ve gotta bear in mind is that many students don’t apply themselves to their classes, and when they fail them…they hold the professor accountable because the class was “too hard.”

I’ve run into this numerous times at my school. Particularly with my math teacher this semester. I’ve heard from several people how hard his class was, how they could never understand what he was teaching them, and how they never understood the material. Come to find out though, it really just came down to them not applying themselves. It’s a rigorous class, yes…but I absolutely love it. The teacher is awesome…and he just has a unique teaching style.

Those rating sites can be a good point to start from…but I wouldn’t avoid a teacher simply because of those ratings. You’d do better to ask people you know that have had the teacher before.
