My son just received a FAFSA correction notice that one of the colleges listed on his FAFSA made a correction. We don’t know which one. The only correction was to answer no to the question are your parents allowed to file a 1040-EZ. It just made me wonder what college corrected it and if we should remove the 5 colleges from his FAFSA that we know he will not be attending. Is there any advice on this issue? Thank you.
How would you remove them? Resubmitting FAFSA with only one school doesn’t undo the previous submission to the other schools.
If you want to stop those five schools from messing with his FAFSA, the solution would be for him to contact those schools that have admitted him, and politely decline the offers of admission, and contact those schools that have not yet made a decision and withdraw his application. He’d have to do it eventually, anyway, so there’s no reason not to just do it now and give you some peace of mind.
