Should I request a change in my Scholars program?

<p>When I filled out the interest inventory, I put my preferences as: 1.Life Sciences 2. Science, Discovery and the Universe 3. Science, Technology and Society.
I really wanted to get into life sci bc I thought it was interesting and I want to become a doctor, but I knew it was long shot. I listed SDU as my 2nd choice bc that was the one my sister did and seemed close enough to LS, but now I’m looking at the curriculum for SDU and I really don’t want to do anything astronomy related at all. I was thinking about changing to the Arts program but I was wondering if that program ‘holds up’ as well as life sciences. Also, when I was looking at the Arts curriculum I saw music courses listed but was kind of confused about what that meant. Can I focus solely on the music aspecta of the Arts program or will I still have to take courses like ‘Elements of Drawing’?</p>

<p>So basically can someone rate the SDU and Arts program, specifically in the music department please??</p>

<p>I can’t tell you anything about the Arts program and although I attended the open house last week and learned all about SDU in detail - I can’t rate it (yet) bc I haven’t been a student there yet. I can tell you more about what the professors said the seminars would be about - but I’d have to do that later - in a separate post - if you want those details. But I think you already know them from our sister? btw - the SDU will be in a different dorm this fall from where they are this year. Not a big deal - still in with all the scholars - but a dorm with other programs in their “neighborhood” - its a good thing :slight_smile: You said you listed SDU as your second choice but don’t want to do anything astronomy related - Did you not get your first choice (Life Sciences)? And is Life Sciences no longer you first choice - but replaced now by art? Or is the art your 2nd choice instead of SDU? Sorry to be confused - I just am not clear about what happened to LIfe Science and your wanting to be in that one. I’m not sure why you would think it would be a long shot. If you didn’t get into Life Science for some reason but want to - then I would contact them and let them know that you would love to be in it over any of the others and ask to be put on the top of the list if there becomes room. And I think you should contact the arts program people and ask them if they would consider adding you instead of the SDU program. I wouldn’t think anything would be set in stone yet, as people are still making their decisions on which college they want to attend - let alone which program in the college. But someone else who has already been in the program may have a different take on it! Go Terps! </p>

<p>@taores I still want to do Life Sciences but I just assumed that since they didn’t place in it initially that there was no point listing it as my #1 on the form the ‘change in program’ Request form. So I was just going to settle with Art since I preferred it more than SDU. and I thought LS was a long shot b/c i read somewhere that that program and business (i think) are the hardest programs to get into out of the rest.</p>
