So I got into the U of Chicago and Georgetown early. Nonetheless, I applied to Berkeley just in case I did not get into either, which I thought was highly likely. I’ve already sent my test scores and the application. I am not planning on going to Berkeley even if accepted. Should I rescind my application?

My main incentive to rescind the application is so some of my other classmates can get in. Would me rescinding the application improve their chances?

He already stated he would not go. If you are not, do this as a service to the people you know aiming for Berkeley, they will likely appreciate it and so will admissions.

Edit: Missed your last question. No, one rescinded application won’t really affect their admissions give the massive number of applicants. The qualified ones get in or not and a rescinded application just means one more qualified person might be accepted.
