Is an 1870 good enough to get into SB? Or should I retake? Whats a good score to have for the school?

i got in with a 1710 haha. so that should be good enough

Wow… I got EXACTLY 1870 as well.

I got into UCSB but rejected from UCD and UCI.

i got in with a 1710 also, but i had alot of extracurriculars, and pretty good essays

to be safe, i would retake it and shoot for a 2000. a lot of my friends did not get admission even with a great gpa and sat score. i would do all i can to secure a safe chance statwise with sb. ucsb is getting increasingly competitive year by year. good luck!

not sure, but from my experience, SATs don’t weigh as much as they make themselves out to be – at least the writing/reading portion of the test doesn’t for the UCs at least. I got a 2070 (630 in math)… and a lot of my friends who got a lower overall score than me but did better in the math section got into more UCs than i did.

It’s more about gpa despite what anyone says. My friend had less than an 1870 but a 4.3 or so gpa and hard living conditions and she got into Berekley. I’m going to UCSB with a 1950.

I wouldnt say you have to, my friend got in with a 3.5 gpa and 1600 SAT and no extracurriculars, but you can if you want to be safe.

However, we still need to bear in mind the majors you guys applied for, which can make a difference! And, especially the ESSAYS play a major role in admissions.

I think an 1870 is fine for ucsb if you have good ecs, good essays, and a solid gpa to go along with it. But with admissions becoming more competitive every year, you never know what they want.
