Should I retake my SAT?

I took the SAT in May 2016 (first sitting) and got a score of 1520 ( R/W-720 / M-800 ). On the essay section I got an 8/7/7.

I realize that my scores are pretty high, but I wanted to know if I should consider retaking to max out my score and if it was worth it to max out my score.

I’m a rising senior with a 4.0 unweighted GPA and a ~4.45 weighted GPA (School doesn’t calculate. Had to calculate myself.). I’ve taken 13 AP classes so far. I’m thinking of applying to Stanford, Harvard, and Yale.

I’ll be taking the ACT on September 10, 2016. It will be my first sitting.

Your SAT score translates into 2170 on the old test. Since it’s your first sitting, I would take it again to increase the cr/w score.

It’s probably fine. The jury is still out regarding the accuracy of the concordance tables to convert old/new SAT equivalencies.

If you didn’t prep beforehand, do a few practice tests and see how the CRW section goes. If it’s dramatically better than your 720, then you could give it one more try. If it’s similar, I’d focus on the ACT instead.
