So my scores are as follows:
ACT Comp: 31
English 34
Math 28
Science 31
Reading 31
SAT: 1340
Reading/Writing: 740
Math: 600
So my math scores are obviously not great, I’m applying to Colgate, Emory, Franklin & Marshall, UF, UVA, and Richmond. I’m trying to decide whether to retake my SAT to try and get that math score up or if not what scores should I submit? I’m thinking I’m gonna stick with that ACT score though. Thanks!!
I think it just depends on the superscore policies of the school. Some schools require you to send all ACT and SAT scores that you have taken. If you do better on the ACT, you could just send that instead of the 1340. However, some schools require all scores of ACT or SAT and a 31 may be a little troublesome. Nevertheless, you should check out the score choice requirements on prepscholar: http://blog.prepscholar.com/which-colleges-superscore-the-sat. Ofc you could check out the college’s website too.
Hello. I was admitted to Richmond class of 2021 and I had an SAT of 1210 (superscored) and ACT of 25. I personally think that you’re scores are really good for Richmond (if I remember correctly, Richmond doesn’t see scores as their #1 most considered). I know quite a few others who had below 1300 SAT who got admitted (you can also see the 2021 acceptance thread).
If you have good extracurriculars, recs, and GPA. Richmond should work out in you’re favor. For clarification, I wasn’t even wait-listed nor did I apply early decision (early decision has a higher acceptance rate than normal).
For the other schools though, I would recommend retaking the SAT or ACT for a better score. My friends who got into UVA had scores in 1360-1420 range for SAT.
A 31 ACT converts to about a 1430 SAT. A 28 converts to about a 630/640. Most schools don’t superscore ACT’s, although they may say they will look at each component of all the tests submitted. Do you feel more comfortable with the math section of the ACT or SAT? If you are indifferent, you probably have a better shot of raising your ACT up by a point than the SAT by 100+.
