Should I retake the SAT/SATII?

My SAT:2270
Reading 760
Math 780
writing 730 with a 9 essay

SATII
Chemistry: 790
World history: 730

AP:
Chem: 5
World History: 5

Should I take the ACT or retake the SAT? I really want a 2300 but I don’t know if it’s worth to retake for 30 points.
I am going to take the SAT II USH and either Lit or French. (Which one is easier?)

I’m looking for a liberal art college such as Pomona College, Williams, Smith etc

IF you aren’t satisfied with your SAT, retake it, but don’t bother with the ACT since you are already comfortable with the SAT considering the score you got.

I had almost this exact question (I had a 2260), and I’m still undecided. In terms of the subject tests, Lit is almost certainly easier than French unless you’re a native speaker or close to it, if their reputations are correct. I guess I’ll likely retake, as it was my first SAT and I feel like I went into it underprepared, but my answer certainly isn’t yours, necessarily. Best of luck.

99th percentile is 99th percentile… no brownie points for that… unless like you scored below 700 one a section.

Studies suggest otherwise. This is an interesting read that focuses on other aspects of admissions, but clearly suggests an upward trend from the 98th percentile and 99th percentile to the upper 99th percentile.

This study has been discussed at length on CC in the past, but I can’t find it at the moment. If someone else can find that thread, kudos!

thanks all. I appreciate the feedback. I’ve browsed some of the stats of people who were accepted to top tier schools and found that a 2300 doesn’t always push you over the edge. I think I should focus more on ECs and finding the thing I love (still need to decide my major)
