Should I retake the SAT?

I’m interested in doing BME at Georgia Tech, class of 2017. I’m happy with my overall SAT (2150), but my math was only a 630. Do I need to get my math score up to do engineering at GT?

Well, since GT doesn’t look at major for a factor into admissions, my assumption is that your 2150 would just be that. Not a 2150 with a 630 math applying to engineering, but a 2150. If you feel that you can do better on the SAT, then what the hell? Do it! But a 2150 is very respectable, and a bit above the average this year (which was like a 2100.)

Back in my admission (2008, class of 2012) they posted on their website that they did not even look at the writing score. What is your verbal + math? That may be a better indicator of retaking, and math is one of the easier sections to study up for (learning a lot of tricks and working on timing can improve your score significantly).

My combined is a 1430, but I think I’ll retake it. It can’t hurt.

1430 I think is perfectly solid but like you said, can’t hurt to take it again
