Should I retake the SAT?

<p>Well, the problem I had with my SAT I was that there was a difference of 120 points between my math and my CR:</p>

<p>800 CR/680 Math/790 Writing</p>

<p>Should I retake to raise my Math? I know it will go up because I am doing math all summer (prep for AP Calc BC) and this time my calculator will work. :wink: However some people told me it wasn’t worth it because my overall grade is still really high (2270). Then I heard that for Ivies or close-to-Ivies (which is definitely what I want) you should go for at least 2300.</p>

<p>I’m actually not really weak in Math. English is my strong point, but I’ve never done poorly in math either. I have always been in Honors near the top of the class. I think I will also be more focused since for most schools it won’t matter if the other scores go down (though if I bomb them that won’t look good either, it will look like I did it on purpose).</p>

<p>What should I do!?</p>

<p>I will also be taking the SATII on Literature, Spanish Listening, US History, Physics, and Math I only if I feel confident enough and my teacher thinks I can handle it.</p>

<p>I second that. 700 V 770 M 790 writing for a total of 2260. I think I can get it up over 2300 and that verbal up especially. Is it worth it for the ivies?</p>

<p>I don’t know if it would make a huge difference unless you were applying to a place like Harvard.</p>

<p>A 680 is good, but if you think you can do better, you might as well go for it.</p>

<p>ivynut, my advice is to concentrate all your effort on verbal. If you can pull it up to an 800, that’s an easy 2360 right there!</p>

<p>Yes, I am actually planning to apply to Harvard. I feel that I am all set on the rest of the application, my resume/essay/recs/additional docs are great. I’ve basically done everything already. My other top schools are Amherst, Columbia, and Brown.</p>
