Should I self-study for an AP Test?

My school does not offer AP Human Geography. However, as a 6th and 7th grader, I came in TOP 20 in my state for the National Geographic Bee (top .001%). I was thinking of self-studying for the AP test. I feel like if I took the test right now I could get a 2 or 3. I looked over some past free response questions and I could answer about 2/3 of them pretty well. Obviously, if I review my geography and buy some AP books I could do much better. What do you think? Is this a good idea or not? I would want to get at least a 4 so I don’t mess up my bid to become an AP Scholar with Distinction after my junior year (I’m a sophomore right now).

Thanks!
